Some vendors have been part of The Cabin at Old Spur since the beginning. A&B Florist is one of them.

Leslie Carpenter runs A&B Florist out of Florence, South Carolina, and she has been doing flowers for weddings at our venue since we opened our doors. She is one of our preferred florists, and there is a reason her name comes up so often when couples ask us who they should call.

A&B Florist is a family business in the most literal sense. Leslie’s parents, Alice and Bill, started the shop forty-two years ago, and the name carries their initials. Leslie is the second-generation owner. “It represents our origins and legacy as a family business,” she said. “I am honored that I get to continue that legacy today.”

Forty-two years in one town means a lot of weddings. It also means a florist who knows the local families, the local churches, and the local venues, including ours.

No Two Weddings Alike

When we asked Leslie what makes her style a good fit for couples marrying at The Cabin, her answer was about flexibility.

“We never do the same wedding twice. We always strive to create something unique for each of our brides and their individual vision for their special day. Our style is very flexible, and so is The Cabin. There are endless possibilities for weddings in many different aspects.”

That matches what we see on the property. Couples use the pavilion, the ceremony sites, and the grounds in ways we did not anticipate when we built the place. A florist who works from the couple’s vision rather than a fixed catalog is the right partner for that.

Family, Twice Over

Leslie has had family members married at The Cabin.

“The venue is so special to us, especially because we have even had family members get married there. Getting to be part of anyone’s big day is amazing, but it is even better when you get to be there for your family as well.”

Working Together

We asked Leslie what she likes about working at the venue.

“We love being able to work with Debbie, Shannon, and all of the wonderful people at The Cabin. Everyone there is extremely helpful and accommodating, and they do everything possible to make their couples’ special days run smoothly. We get to see them often there, and they are always so kind and generous to us.”

Advice for Couples

We asked Leslie what she tells couples who are just starting to think about their flowers.

“It is important to book early, because a lot of us vendors do book quickly. But I remind all of my couples that as long as they are on my calendar, they do not have to know every detail from the beginning. It is a journey, and we get there in the end.”
