Location & the property

Where is The Cabin at Old Spur located?
The Cabin at Old Spur is at 750 Old Spur Road, Timmonsville, SC 29161, on 73 private acres in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina.
Our mailing address reads Timmonsville, but the property sits closer to Lamar, so don’t let that confuse you when you look at a map.
Drive times from nearby towns:
| Florence | 15 minutes |
| Darlington | 17 minutes |
| Hartsville | 19 minutes |
| Camden | 30 minutes |
| Sumter | 35 minutes |
| Columbia | 1 hour |
For guests traveling farther, Conway is about an hour and a half and Charleston about two hours. Those flying in usually land at Florence Regional Airport, the closest at 25 minutes. Columbia Metropolitan is just over an hour away, and Myrtle Beach International and Charlotte Douglas are both about two hours out.
What is on the property?
The property is 73 acres built around a heart-shaped pond with a beach on one end, and the pavilion complex, four ceremony sites, two cabins, and hiking trails all sit within an easy walk of each other.
The pavilion sits at the center of the property, and it’s where receptions happen. A courtyard connects it to our permanent outdoor bar, with climate-controlled restrooms just behind the bar and a dedicated catering area right behind the pavilion. The pergola, with its bench swings and fire pit, sits nearby.
The pond gives you four ceremony settings: a peninsula across the water where a free-standing barn door stands under the trees, a dock at the pond’s edge, a field cut into the oaks along the wood line behind the cabin, and the pavilion itself. It’s stocked with hybrid bluegill and largemouth bass, so plenty of guests spend a quiet hour fishing during the weekend. If you catch one of our four carp, please release it. They’re on the payroll keeping the algae down.
Hiking trails wind through the forest for guests who want to explore. High-speed internet also reaches the property, so staying connected is never a problem.
Brides love the “bride mobile,” an extended golf cart with a sheer curtain over the back seat that carries the bride from the main cabin to her ceremony entrance. It’s included with your weekend.
What ceremony locations are available?
There are four ceremony sites, all of them oriented around the pond, and couples often go back and forth before deciding which one feels right.
The one most people picture first sits on a peninsula across the pond, where a free-standing barn door stands under the trees with water on nearly every side and photographs beautifully in late afternoon light, and a small built-in booth beside the barn door has electricity, so your DJ or musician has power without running cable across the property. The second is the dock at the pond’s edge, the closest ceremony site to the pavilion, which makes for a short walk from ceremony to reception. The third is a field cut into the oaks along the wood line behind the main cabin. The fourth is the pavilion itself, and some couples choose it even with a perfect forecast, because it’s covered, it looks out over the pond and the woods beyond, and it keeps the ceremony and reception in the same space.
Staying the weekend

What overnight accommodations are included?
Both cabins are included in the weekend, with beds for 16 people and room for 21 using the couches.
Your wedding party stays right where the wedding happens, and couples often tell us this matters more than they expected.
The main cabin holds the bridal suite and a full kitchen, and it sleeps 14. Upstairs there’s a king bed in the bridal suite, a queen in the second bedroom, and four twins in the third, which comes to 8 in beds and 10 once you count the two upstairs couches. A second king downstairs brings the cabin to 14, and the grooms cabin has bunk beds for six plus a couch for a seventh.
The layout is deliberate. The bride and her bridesmaids have the entire upstairs to themselves, with sleeping space for ten and room to get ready undisturbed, while the groom and groomsmen have their own cabin tucked into the woods. Couples often say having those two spaces truly separate is something they wouldn’t want to give up.
The practical effect is that nobody coordinates a hotel block, books a shuttle, or arranges a designated driver, because everyone’s already home. The people closest to you wake up together the morning of the wedding and are still there Sunday morning before everyone scatters.
When do we get access to the venue, and when is checkout?
The property is yours from Friday morning through Sunday at 10:00 AM.
Friday arrival isn’t tied to a set check-in time, so there’s room to start decorating early or get the rehearsal underway.
Can we hold our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on site?
Yes. There’s no additional cost.
Friday is already part of your weekend, so your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner happen right here, under the same pavilion where you will hold your reception, with no second venue to book, no second deposit, and nobody trying to find a restaurant in the dark. Most couples say this is the part of the weekend they remember most, the one evening where everyone’s together and nobody’s on a schedule yet.
Does our reception have to end at a certain time?
Amplified music ends at 11:00 PM, but your celebration does not have to.
Guests staying on the property head back to the cabins or out to the pergola fire pit, and the evening keeps going in a quieter way, one of the real advantages of having the venue for the whole weekend rather than a single evening, since nobody has to clear the property when the reception ends.
Can guests bring an RV or camper?
Yes. We have two dedicated RV sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups.
It is a good option for family or friends who want to stay on the property but do not fit in the cabins. Ask Debbie for current pricing.
Pricing & what’s included

How much does a wedding at The Cabin at Old Spur cost?
Our all-inclusive wedding package is $6,800 and covers exclusive use of the entire property from Friday morning through Sunday at 10:00 AM, with no hourly fees and no add-on list, and nothing gets added to that total later.
That price includes both cabins for two nights, the covered pavilion, your ceremony site, tables and 200 chairs, and full cleanup after your event. Weekday weddings and celebrations are available at a discounted rate, and Debbie can quote those directly.
A payment plan is available in three installments, and we can adjust the schedule if that helps.
Services come from outside vendors, so you hire your own caterer, bartender, and coordinator from anyone you choose. Several vendors on our preferred list offer a discount to couples booking through the venue.
Couples tell us the real value is hard to put on an invoice. A wedding held in a rented block of hours usually comes with a hotel block to negotiate, shuttles or designated drivers to arrange, and a hard stop when the rental ends. None of that applies here, because the property is yours from Friday morning and the people in your wedding party are already sleeping on it.
Friday you decorate at your own pace, and the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner happen under the same pavilion where you will hold your reception, so there is no second venue to book and nobody drives home afterward. Everyone just walks back to the cabins.
Saturday morning is the part brides tell us about later. The bride and her bridesmaids wake up together in the bridal suite rather than texting between hotel rooms, and getting ready spreads across the whole morning with everyone in one place. The upstairs of the main cabin is theirs alone, with room to spread out and nobody else moving through it.
The groom and his groomsmen have their own cabin tucked into the woods, and their morning runs the same unhurried way. The pond is stocked and the trails are open, so most of them spend it fishing, walking the property, or sitting out at the pergola fire pit until it is time to get dressed.
For many couples, the best part of the weekend comes after the reception ends. Because you are never rushed off the property, the night keeps going for family and friends who want to linger: a conversation by the pergola fire pit, a walk down to the dock to watch the stars over the pond, or a slow evening rocking on the front porch. Those unplanned hours are often what couples say they remember most.
What is included in the weekend rental?
The all-inclusive wedding package includes the entire 73-acre property from Friday morning through Sunday at 10:00 AM, both cabins for two nights, the covered pavilion, your ceremony location, tables and chairs, and full post-event cleanup.
- Both cabins for two nights, with a full kitchen in the main cabin and a kitchenette in the grooms cabin
- The covered pavilion with flowing white drapes for the perfect bridal aesthetic
- A dedicated dance area on smoothed concrete, with DJ space
- The permanent outdoor bar and courtyard
- The pergola with bench swings and fire pit
- Climate-controlled guest restrooms
- A dedicated catering prep area
- The “bride mobile” for your ceremony entrance
- Your choice of four ceremony locations overlooking the pond
- 25 five-foot round tables, 6 rectangular tables, and 8 whiskey barrel cocktail tables
- 200 chairs
- Several arbors and arches to choose from
- Full cleanup, including the cabins, table and chair breakdown, trash removal, and venue reset
The pavilion’s white draping changes the whole space, and it works whether your style leans rustic chic, boho, or country elegant. It’s part of the package rather than a rental line item, so it’s one less thing on your decorating list.
Having the venue from Friday morning means you’re not compressing everything into a single day. There’s time for your rehearsal, your rehearsal dinner, decorating at your own pace, and simply being with the people you love. When the wedding is over, nobody has to rush off the property.
How many guests can The Cabin at Old Spur accommodate?
The covered pavilion seats about 250 guests for a reception, and most of the weddings we host fall between 100 and 200 guests.
Your rental includes 200 chairs, and because the property spans 73 acres, there’s plenty of room to spread out well beyond the pavilion itself.
If your guest list runs larger than 200, you can rent additional chairs through a preferred rental vendor, several of whom discount for couples booking through us.
Dates go quickly, especially in spring and fall.
Food, drink & vendors

Can we serve alcohol at our wedding or event?
Yes. We ask that alcohol be served by a licensed bartending or catering service, and we have a permanent bar built into the property for exactly that purpose.
Alcohol service ends at 10:00 PM, an hour before music, and you will also need event liability insurance that includes host liquor liability and names the venue as an additional insured. It sounds more complicated than it is, and most of our couples use eWedinsurance for this; we will send you the details when you book.
Can we choose our own vendors?
Yes. There is no required vendor list and no vendor fee, so if you already have a caterer, florist, or photographer you love, they are welcome here.
We ask only that your vendors be licensed and insured. If you are still deciding, we are glad to share our preferred vendor list, which covers catering, bartending, coordination, photography, florals, cakes, hair and makeup, DJs and musicians, and rentals, and these are people we have worked with many times, several of whom offer a discount to couples booking through the venue. Ask Debbie and she will send it over.
Is there a place for our caterer to work?
Yes. There is a dedicated catering area directly behind the pavilion with two refrigerator-freezers, a commercial sink, and prep space.
It connects straight to the reception area for quick service and sits out of sight of your guests, which caterers tell us is one of the things they appreciate most about the property, since nobody is working out of a tent or hauling food across the grounds.
Do we need a wedding coordinator?
We do not require one, but we encourage it.
A coordinator is the person who tells the florist where the arch goes, keeps the timeline moving when the photographer needs fifteen more minutes, handles the vendor who arrives late, and makes the calls about weather so you never have to.
On a weekend-stay property there is more of that than couples expect, because Friday setup and rehearsal, Saturday’s ceremony and reception, and Sunday checkout all have to be managed. The part that surprises people is who ends up doing that work if nobody is hired for it. Usually it is the couple’s mother, a sister, or a close friend, which means the person you most wanted beside you spends your wedding day running errands instead of being at it.
Coordination isn’t part of our package, but several coordinators on our preferred vendor list are glad to help. If your budget is tight, a day-of coordinator who steps in during the final weeks costs less than full planning and still covers the day itself.
Weather, access & policies

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
Our covered pavilion is large enough to hold both your ceremony and your reception, and it converts from one to the other right there, easily, immediately after you say your vows.
There is no gap and no scramble, and a rainy forecast does not change your day, thanks to real drainage work across the event grounds that keeps them from turning soft. If you want additional covered space, there’s room for tents in the courtyard between the bar and the pavilion, and a preferred rental vendor can set that up.
Rain on a wedding day has long been considered good luck: Italians say sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata, a wet bride is a lucky bride, and in Hindu tradition a wet knot is the hardest one to untie.
Is on-site parking available?
Parking is a wide open grassy field directly behind the pavilion and the restroom courtyard, with room for as many cars as your guest list brings.
We graded and designed the field for drainage from the very start, so it stays solid even after heavy rain instead of turning to mud. The walk from parking to the ceremony sites, bar, pergola, and restrooms is flat, so it’s easy for everyone.
What are the restroom facilities like?
These are real restrooms, not portable ones.
Our men’s and women’s restrooms are fully climate-controlled, heated and air-conditioned, and they sit just behind the bar area where guests can find them easily.
Is the venue accessible for guests with mobility needs?
The event areas are accessible.
The ground is flat from the parking field through the ceremony sites, pavilion, courtyard, bar, and restrooms, so a wheelchair can get anywhere on the event property without difficulty, and both restrooms are wheelchair accessible as well, though the overnight cabins have three steps at the entrance, so the lodging itself is not wheelchair accessible.
Are pets allowed?
Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome with advance approval.
Plenty of our couples have included their dog in the ceremony, and we are glad to make it work.
Are there guidelines for decorations and setup?
We ask that anything used outdoors be biodegradable, and open flames are not permitted under the pavilion.
Bubbles, balloons, and real flower petals are all welcome. Confetti and artificial flower petals are not, since only natural materials break down on their own. We love this property, and we ask every couple to help us leave it just as beautiful for the next couple who will stand right where you did.
If you have something specific in mind, just ask and we will let you know what works.
Planning a visit

How do we schedule a tour?
The best way to see the property is in person, and we will set it up.
Call us at 843-731-1542, text us using the button below, or email info@thecabinatoldspur.com, and we will find a time that works for you. Tours usually take about an hour, which is enough to walk the pond, see all four ceremony sites, and go through both cabins.
