Meet one of our preferred wedding photographers serving Florence, Charleston, and the Pee Dee region.
Ashley Bevan does not put her cameras down often. Her studio portraits show her holding four of them at once, including a Super 8 film camera and a mint green Polaroid alongside her Canon digital bodies. That mix says a lot about how she shoots. Ashley Bevan Photography blends documentary and editorial styles into wedding galleries that feel both candid and composed. The Shaw wedding this spring was her first at The Cabin at Old Spur, and it was all we needed to see. She is the newest addition to our preferred vendor list, and we could not be happier to welcome her.

A Photographer and a Psychologist
Ashley took a special interest in photography when her mom got her first nice camera. Since 2021, that interest has grown into a full photography business covering weddings, couples, engagements, and portraits across South Carolina.
What sets her apart is what she does when she is not behind the camera. “Something unique about me is that I love working as a creative and a student. I am currently a school psychology candidate, as well as a clinical psychology doctoral candidate. I think my background in psychology has immensely helped me to relate to the people I work with. At the end of the day, this is one of the most important and emotional days of a couple’s life. Being able to be a photographer who can work with her couples on a personal level makes all the difference.”
She is also a self-described book nerd. Her inquiry form invites couples to include a book recommendation with their message.
Half Sneaking, Half Directing
Ashley describes her approach as a split between two styles. “I offer a unique blend of documentary and editorial style of shooting. This means that I spend half the day ‘sneaking’ around, getting candid, unprompted moments. The other half of the day, I prompt the couple in a way that elicits natural emotions and movements that look and feel real.”

The relationship starts well before the wedding day. “The goal is for my couples to feel comfortable with me. Before the wedding day, I make sure to cultivate a relationship with the couple so that I feel more like a friend and less like a businesswoman.”
The Shaw Wedding
Ashley photographed Madison and Justin Shaw’s wedding here on March 15, 2026, and the gallery shows how much ground one wedding day can cover on this property. The ceremony took place with the pond as the backdrop. Madison revealed her dress to her bridesmaids on the dock. The couple exchanged private vows back to back under an oak tree before the ceremony. Golden hour portraits happened in the open fields, and the couple’s three dogs joined for portraits of their own. The night ended with a send-off in a classic red car.

A Moment She Will Not Forget
Ashley shared a favorite memory from that day. “I think one of the most memorable moments from the Cabin happened at the Shaw’s wedding day. Madison had just finished her first touch and private vow exchange with Justin prior to the ceremony, and we were at that point of the day when everyone was just anxiously waiting to start the ceremony. Madison’s bridesmaids decided to turn the nerves into excitement by playing Madison’s favorite music. Madison and her bridesmaids danced until it was time for the ceremony. These are the moments that I love to capture. The unprompted, real, joy-filled moments.”
Because the wedding party stays on site all weekend at The Cabin, moments like that one have room to happen. There is no rush to a hotel and back. The day unfolds at its own pace.
Why She Loves Shooting at The Cabin
We asked Ashley what she enjoys about working at our venue. “There are so many things that I love about working at The Cabin, but if I had to narrow it down to one aspect, I would say its versatility. For the couple, the Cabin offers so many distinct locations to hold their ceremony, so it really is customizable based on the needs of the couple. As a photographer, the property allows me to deliver wedding galleries with a diverse range of settings. From the pond, to the fields, to indoor and outdoor settings, this venue is expansive in its offerings!”
